Gary Ashton started in real estate in March 2001 after moving to Nashville from Clearwater Beach, Florida in October 2000. A background in advertising and marketing had helped Gary establish the family motel in Florida as one of the most succesful motels in the area. Part of this was due to the realization that the internet was a fantastic tool for marketing and attracting new clients to the motel from overseas.
The Move To Nashville
When Gary started his real estate career in Nashville he applied some of the same principles he had learned in the advertisng and motel businesses. The concept of thinking like the buyer helped Gary establish his first real estate buyer website, www.NashvilleBuyers.com
The Growth of the Internet and Real Estate
As Gary developed the Internet as his prime marketing tool his success grew; he was eventually recognized as one of the top ten agents for the Nashville and Memphis based real estate company Crye-Leike. Feeling that it was time to move on Gary was about to embark on another stage of his real estate career with another local company, Bob Parks, when he was offered the opportunity that would take his career in real estate to the next level.
Nashville.com The Next Step
The owners of Nashville.com had shrewdly aquired their domain from a doctor in Nashville who really didn't realize what he had. Brothers Michael and David Castello, owners of www.Nashville.com, had a proven track record with their other domains in places like Palm Springs, West Palm Beach etc and always with RE/MAX agents. When they were looking for an agent to become the exclusive for Nashville.com they needed to find someone that would instantly understand the value of being the exclusive Realtor for the Nashville Real Estate market. It took just one phone call to Gary and the deal was made.
Overnight Gary went from receiving 30 leads in a good month to 30 leads in one day! This was a sink or swim situation because it would be very easy to just drown in the leads and never be able to provide the service that the real estate buyers were looking for.
Quickly Gary realized that he would have to create his own system of answering and tracking the leads, add buyers agents to handle to overflow of leads and use an assistant to help co-ordinate all these activities. It also became very clear to Gary that if buyers were using the Nashville.com site to find out more information about Nashville and the real estate market they would have no idea if Bob Parks was one of the biggest regional real estate companies or it it was a team of 3 people working out of someones home!
Gary knew there was only one choice for him: Partnering with a real estate company that had the vision and ability to brand itself world wide and embrace the internet as the new way forward with real estate.

The Ashton Real Estate Group of RE/MAX Elite has now grown to a team of more than 12 full-time professional RE/MAX buyers agents, a dedicated mortage team and alliance with SunTrust Bank and Lottie McCormick as well as two closing companies: Smith Sholar Associates and Stonegate Title who handle the real estate closings for the Ashton Real Estate Team buyers and sellers.
